A Ten Dollar Tent

All the parts are there...
A family size tent - in excellent condition
I like the "alcoves".

I am considering where I will go first to get to use it...
"Deflated" and ready to wrap up - need comfortable cots and sleeping bags now...

Ikea

I've been fussing with some Ikea shelving I picked up very cheap (cheaper than the store even - so there). I've been fussing with this since about eight this morning. I have two shelves done. I have two to go. These are "floating" shelves. Very cool.

According to the picture directions on the insert I am to either find the wall studs or purchase various and several hardware depending on the type of wall I am installing the shelving onto. I found the wall studs. The pre-drilled holes on the Ikea shelving face plate match nothing in my wall. Nothing.

While I was on-line getting ready to post this silly shelving kiniption thingy on Craigslist to see who was silly enough to take it off my hands - I wasn't going to tell them how user unfriendly it is - I came across an entry regarding the very shelving unit I had found useless. The author made it very simple. Ikea does not understand 16" center wall studs. They don't have that construction technique. She said to simply take the shelving face plate and drill holes into it at 16" intervals. I think she said, "It doesn't take a rocket scientist, drill the holes where you need them."

Now if only I could find a posting regarding this kit for the Ikea Car...

Customer Service

As I answer the phone calls at work I find there are a lot of people that are compelled to tell me their story before they ask for whatever thing they are calling to request. They tell the story as if it has a bearing on how I will answer. Nine times out of ten it does not. Either I have what they want or I don't. I can offer alternatives, but it has to do with the constraints I am working under and not their story. I must remember that when I ask a customer service person for something they are in a position to grant that I just make the request without the life story - the story is irrelevant.
I do find it funny anymore, and yes I smile often at this one, that when a person asks for something and I am able to say, "Why, yes. Here you are." My most heard response is, "No, I wanted it in a different shade (or whatever variation they did not designate)." I outright handed them what they asked for, but no. Now that they are getting what they asked for they want to make stipulations.
Which brings me to the Great Creator, or God, or the Universe, or the Ultimate Customer Service Manager...they know the story, they know what we need. If all we have to do is ask, why are we so busy telling stories and making stipulations?

The people I see each day live in a very narrow band width. It appears the more stipulations one makes the narrower the options. I am hoping for a stipulation free day.
Ohyeah.

Goldfish

IF I were a goldfish...and I could conceive of water as water, the stuff I swim in, how would that change anything in my life? It wouldn't.

Great photo...Credit is due...

Summer

It sure feels silly to be sitting in front of the computer when it's so nice outside. Hope all is going well for all of you.

For me...I appreciate the bullet proof glass I sit behind when I am at work. I appreciate quitting time.

Isn't this sun glorious?
