Fascination with Bilbo Baggins

I'm re-reading The Hobbit after 30 plus years. The J.R. R. Tolkien sure knows how to tell a tale. Adventure is wonderful, even with the awful bits.

  1. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to watch the movie because when I read the books the characters kept getting confused in my brain ... now that I've seen the film I can keep everybody straight.

Awesome work he did ... that's for SURE!

  2. I like it better this time around. And so far I'm keeping everyone separate. I wonder that I confused the characters of Watership Down and Hobbit by reading them back to back that first time around. Very interesting that we both couldn't keep the characters straight...huh

  3. It has been awhile since I read the hobbit and Lord of the Rings but I do recall loving every book.

Reminds me to watch the trilogy when I get some time again...

  4. I never could get into that when I picked it up 100 years ago. I saw the movie and found myself disappointed early on when the bad guys were unable to do the hobbit in. Maybe it was just the actor or acting I didn't care for. Scenery was nice. I'm sure the book would be more interesting now. Watership Down was interesting back then. No problem getting interested. Could be something about rabbits and my kinship with their ways at that stage of my life...
